23. My third visit to the land of smiles happened in January 2016.

Before I tell you about my most exciting stay in Thailand, I'd like to draw your attention to a few interesting facts that happened in my personal life in the previous 2015.

I temporarily put aside the project "Thailand-Secrets", as it has been developing every day for 9 years with an active news feed of photos, videos, incidents and interesting questions that I raise to the large fan audience, seeking their opinion on everything related to Thailand. Back in January 2015, I met the woman I still live with and she and I will be the main characters in the unique 3rd series of trips to Thailand. We met her on the social networking site Facebook, sharing a common thrill and interests. She is a clinical pharmacy graduate, something pivotal in furthering the story. So, after the various stages our initial relationship went through, we moved in together at the end of 2015. All the while, she could see that my passion, Thailand, was taking up a significant amount of my free time, as I was inside on Facebook for hours from morning to night, posting and monitoring likes, comments and shares on yet another of my "Thailand-Secrets" posts. This slightly annoyed her at first because she wanted more time dedicated to her and our relationship. Normally, anyone would want that in her shoes, but how do I let go of a few years of passion. I have been taught that a job is either done right or not. I don't like half-assed things, or putting off today's commitments and tasks for tomorrow. Slowly she got used to my drifting into this subject matter. Time as always flew by and imperceptibly the end of 2015 came. I decided that I had seen enough of life with her under one roof, we went through certain trials of our relationship and on the cusp of the Christian holiday of Christmas (Nativity) and I proposed an engagement ring and she said "I do". To make it feel even more romantic and inspiring and I shared that we were going on a trip a month later to water the occasion. Yes, right there in Thailand. After another stalking of promotional terms and conditions for bargain airfare, I booked 2 tickets from my favorite airline, Qatar Airways. The first serious personal step forward in life was a fact of life, and we had reserved seats on board, all that was left was to turn our attention to that always enjoyable part of planning, the logistics. What more does a person need - a companion in life and a plane ticket. The starting and ending point of our trip was Bangkok and we had to think about where else to go and how to allocate the days of downtime, which, subtracting the flight time, was exactly 12. It wasn't long before we decided it - 5 days in Bangkok and 7 in Koh Samui. We also took 2 tickets in advance for the domestic flight between Bangkok and Koh Samui. It was time for step number 2, which is also always particularly enjoyable, booking hotels. We opened up Booking.com, set our criteria and the selection process began with a lot of reading the Pros and Cons. In the end, without hesitation, we made our decision and it was the Bayoke Sky Hotel, then still the tallest hotel in the City of Angels, 84 floors and 304 whole meters. The hotel was divided into price sectors through 20 floors and we planned to be in the 40th to 60th floor range. It sounded great. And it was...more than impressive, but that's why later. We started looking around for a hotel in Koh Samui. There were two options - one was to stay in the same hotel or a hotel close to our friends from Bulgaria who were supposed to be there with their families for the whole month of January, or we could choose a place that matched our feeling of being on an island. The latter prevailed and the search was on. Again, it didn't take us long to find our favourite - the Lamai Bayview Resort, a hotel of detached thatched-roofed cottages and a terraced terrace, right above a unique private beach with white sands and green sea water. So far, we've managed perfectly. The adrenaline grew with each passing day and the time of departure was very close. The rest of the logistical part of the preparation was also very interesting. Even though I had already visited Bangkok in 2011, there were still many places I would like to visit, also to take my wife to the ones I had already been to. Whereas for Koh Samui we were both newbies. We didn't know too much, although the daily news feed of "Thailand-Secrets" over the years had suggested many ideas and I had some preparation, but it proved woefully inadequate. The big reading of interesting places to visit in Bangkok and Koh Samui began, we printed out some of them on a colour printer. Specifically for Bangkok, we decided to bet on the Bangkok Sky Train air train and take it mostly to any point of our logistical choice, so that we could get there both faster and more acclimatized. Yes, we included tuk-tuk, but after my adventures my first time in Bangkok, I was now thinking far more soberly and with my new companion in life in mind. For Samui we didn't have much choice and there the plan included the local Tuk-tuks, which as in Phuket are more like large route taxis rather than the iconic tricycles.
