41. On our last day in the island we dedicated our time to relaxation, food and massages.
I remember that due to the weather forecast of 3 days of storms, the sea was no joke, the wind was no
joke either. A very interesting fact saved us. I told you above that the sea in front of our complex was very
shallow and so hundreds of meters inland. It was strange to watch how in one huge stretch the waves
were breaking away from us and we didn't register any serious and scary swell around, but just a kilometer
further, towards the center of Lamay, the waves were very high and crashing into the houses and buildings
on the shore, washing over their roofs. The whole of the new last full day had similar weather, and it was
raining. We had no choice but to drink cocktails and eat nuts on the terrace, and plan two-hour massages
in the outdoor studio a few feet away. We opened the news and saw that in many areas around Samui,
groups of fishermen had not complied with the ban on going out to sea and there were small craft being
trashed. They were literally thrown out of the water onto the shore. This day would have gone by
unnoticed and our only regret was not being able to go for a swim like last time. The next morning, the
forecast was for a bit of normality, and mostly in the late afternoon, which was fine with us as we had a
domestic flight on Bangkok Airways from Samui to Bangkok and then on Qatar Airways to Doha and Sofia.
